What do you do when you have too many lemons? Make lemonade!
Well that is what happened when the 2020 vintage brought us a bounty of grapes. So we made both red and white organic grape juice.
We had not made juice for the last several years (much to the disappointment of our customers) because all the grapes were needed to make wine. But 2020 was different! This vintage will be a winner as far as wine is concerned but we think it will also be a winner for juice!
So, here is the juicy story about Frogpond’s Organic Grape Juice.
Production Notes
Organic White Grape Juice, $11.95 (750 ml) – Riesling and Vidal grapes were crushed and the juice from both varieties was blended and chilled. After settling, the juice was sterile filtered and bottled. No additives, not pasteurized.
Organic Red Grape Juice, $11.95 (750 ml) – Cabernet Franc and Chambourcin grapes were crushed and the juice from both varieties was blended and chilled. After settling, the juice was sterile filtered and bottled. No additives, not pasteurized.
Tasting Notes
Deliciously and naturally sweet! (Non-alcoholic)
Benefits
According to the Mayo Clinic red and purple grape juice may offer similar heart benefits as red wine:
- Reducing the risk of blood clots
- Reducing low-density lipoprotein (LDL, or “bad”) cholesterol
- Preventing damage to blood vessels in your heart
- Helping maintain a healthy blood pressure
Grapes are rich in health-protecting antioxidants, including resveratrol and flavonoids. These antioxidants are found mainly in the skin, stem, leaf and seeds of grapes, rather than in their pulp. Some research suggests that eating whole grapes can deliver the same amount of antioxidants that are in grape juice and wine but have the added benefit of providing dietary fiber.
Storage/Consumption
Since our grape juice has not been pasturized, keep unopened bottles chilled. Once opened, refrigerate and consume within 2 weeks.
